A fortnight ago, I visited a client I already knew, to whom I had already sold her house and who had now decided to sell her flat in Vienna. Although the lady is already of an advanced age, she is very meticulous and her house always looked as if it had been freshly polished during the sales phase. There was not a drop of water to be seen on the sanitary appliances and the joints also looked as good as new.
So I wasn't surprised that her flat, which I was now to sell, also shone as if it had just been cleaned.
This makes selling fun! Even if the furnishings are no longer completely modern, the flat looks extremely well-maintained, which has a positive effect on a sale.
For the 360° shots, we quickly moved smaller objects into the next room so that everything looked perfect. My customer took a gift bag with a full bottle from the kitchen, which was standing by the box, and placed it on the bed in the neighbouring guest room. Suddenly there was a scream! The bottle rolled onto the floor and broke into many pieces. "Oh no, the wine" was the cry from the next room, while I had already started taking photos.
I quickly rushed to my customer to help her. I realised that it wasn't what I thought was a bottle of red wine, but 1 litre of pumpkin seed oil. I love pumpkin seed oil myself, but the viscous liquid quickly spread all over the floor and even ran under the bed.
Now there were almost no rags to wash up in the flat, which had already been cleared, and time was pressing. If the seed oil ran into the cracks in the floor, there would be a lot of damage! Together we knelt on the floor and tried to soak up the oil with all available rags, kitchen roll and toilet paper. I had just put on a pair of white trousers that day.
After removing the coarse liquid, we rolled out the pull-out from the bed to remove the liquid behind it. Here, too, we found a large layer of seed oil that was spreading more and more.
In addition to the seed oil on the floor, there were also the many shards and splinters that got stuck in my palm when I quickly wiped them up. But there was no time to worry about that, we had to quickly save the melan base. My hands were black and greasy from the seed oil, including my jewellery, with small splinters stuck in my hand.
It would certainly be a funny picture for any viewer, the two of us kneeling on the floor in front of a huge black liquid that was rapidly getting bigger.
But by joining forces and acting immediately, we actually managed to get the floor completely clean again, without any remaining traces of core oil. Afterwards, the floor was as smooth as glass and freshly polished!
The only reminder of the seed oil was the smell in the whole flat.
It was only a pity about the good seed oil!
