SWIMMING POND OR POOL?
The hotter our summers become, the greater the demand for your own cool pool or swimming pond.
But what is the right one for me and how much will it cost?
First things first: a swimming pond is a lot of work if you want it to stay beautiful! Garden designers advertise swimming ponds as little work, but this doesn't work in practice!
A pool is easier to maintain, chlorine tablets or Quattrotabs (multifunctional tablets) are added to the water, disinfecting it and destroying algae.
A pool robot - it's not that easy to find the right one - then does the rest and cleans the bottom of the pool.
Before the start of winter, most of the water is drained and the pool is covered with a tarpaulin.
Work with the pool will start again in spring.
The remaining water is drained, the pool liner is cleaned and new, fresh water is poured in. The "new" pool is ready for the new season.
A swimming pond is a feast for the eyes all year round, but requires constant work, provided that it remains a feast for the eyes.
There are several questions that need to be clarified in advance:
- Do I commission a professional to build a swimming pond or am I skilful enough to build it myself, which is often a question of cost.
- What is my goal: Do I want to use the pond for swimming or do I just want it to be a visual eye-catcher? - Do I plan to have fish in the pond or not?
-Should the pond plants do the automatic cleaning of the pond, as most pond sellers sell us?
- How deep should the pond be? Only for swimming and/or splashing around (an important issue if there are children)
- How do I clean the bottom of the pond (especially if I can no longer stand there)?
- Do I buy a pool robot, what can it do and how do I find the right one?
- Will toads or frogs get into my pond?
As you can see, the complexity of the questions makes it difficult to decide quickly whether a pool or a pond is right for me.
By building my own swimming pond, I have learnt a lot myself!
